Despite appearing to have a successful life, with a thriving mala chain in Singapore and recognition on Forbes' 30 under 30 list, Lee Ray Sheng, 26, recently shared his health struggles in an Instagram post.
Reflecting on his achievements in 2025, Ray mentioned doubling business outlets and revenue, but revealed ongoing health issues. He experienced high resting heart rate, constant fevers, and unexplained illnesses despite adopting a healthier lifestyle.
His health mystery was solved in January, with a diagnosis of stage 3 lymphoma, a rare form of cancer affecting the lymphatic system. Ray's battle with cancer will involve chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, requiring six months for each treatment.
Despite the challenges ahead, Ray plans to use his time productively, focusing on learning and creating new games. He expressed gratitude for the support of his family and doctors during this difficult time.
Ray, along with a fellow Nanyang Technological University student, co-founded A Hot Hideout in 2020, offering a unique mala experience catered to the Singaporean taste buds. The business has expanded to 11 outlets across the island, known for its innovative mala dishes.
Ray's positive attitude and determination to fight against cancer serve as an inspiration to many, as he faces this new chapter in his life with courage and resilience.
